Current



Extremity Constraint-Induced Therapy Evaluation (EXCITE) Trial. Funded by NICHD, NCMRR, and NINDS of NIH; Grant HD37606-03; 4/1/00-3/31/05; $994,167. The purpose of this national clinical trial is to test the efficacy of upper-extremity Constraint-Induced Movement therapy for persons with subacute stroke. The subcontract listed funds the UAB treatment site and the training center for entire trial. Trial P.I. is S. Wolf. UAB site and Training Center P.I. is E. Taub. I was appointed as a collaborating investigator in 12/02 and function as Co-P.I. of the UAB component (effort = 20%).

The goals are to test and develop upper-extremity Constraint-Induced Movement therapy for persons with chronic stroke. P.I. is E. Taub. I was appointed as a collaborating investigator in 12/02 (effort = 10%).

Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) for Stroke Rehabilitation. Funded by Florida Department of Health Biomedical Research Program; 2002-2004; $400,000. The goals are to test the necessity of specific entrance criteria for CIMT and the effectiveness of alternative delivery methods. P.I. is K. Light. I am a consultant on ambulatory monitoring of arm movement.

Psychological Strengths in Vietnam War Veterans with PTSD. Funded by U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 2 Research Incentive Funds; 12/1/01-11/30/03; $18,500. The purpose is to explore the role of psychological strengths in the recovery of Vietnam veterans with PTSD. P.I. is T. Julian. I am Co-P.I.

Psychological Strengths in the Everyday Life of Vietnam War Veterans and Matched Controls Funded by Positive Psychology Network; 2/1/03-11/30/03; $1,800. The goal is compare the function of psychological strengths in Vietnam veterans with PTSD to their function in healthy controls. P.I. is T. Kashdan. I am a collaborating investigator.

Accelerometry: A New Approach to Real-World Outcome Measurement in Rehabilitation. Funded by James S. McDonnell Foundation; Grant JSMF 97-41; 1/1/98-12/31/00; $90,000. The purpose was to develop accelerometery as an objective measure of upper extremity rehabilitation outcome. I was the P.I. E. Taub was a senior collaborating investigator.
