RECENT ACTIVITIES (2002 to 2003)

Educational
  • Committee members presented on ethics at the Rehabilitation Psychology 2002 and 2003 conferences, the 2002 National Academy of Neuropsychology conference, and the 2003 APA convention. The focus of the seminars in 2003 has been to inform rehabilitation psychologists of the changes to the APA Ethics Code, with an emphasis on those areas most relevant to rehabilitation psychology.
  • Bush, Goldberg, and Johnson-Greene provided an article for Rehabilitation Psychology News on "Rehabilitation Psychology Ethics: Understanding and Applying the 2002 APA Ethics Code."
  • Hanson and Kerkhoff have a chapter in press for the second edition of Mark Ashley's text Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation entitled "The implications of bioethical principles in traumatic brain injury rehabilitation."
  • The 2002 text Ethical Issues in Clinical Neuropsychology edited by Bush and Drexler addresses ethical issues related to the evaluation and treatment of individuals with cognitive impairments and has a chapter by Swiercinsky that is specific to rehabilitation.
  • Hanson, Kerkhoff, and Bush have an ethics casebook in press with APA Books that addresses challenging ethical situations across the health care continuum.
Advocacy
