Rosalie J. Ackerman, Ph.D., is a clinical
and research neuropsychologist, and. computer
consultant in the Research & Development
Division of ABackans
DCP, Inc., in Akron, Ohio. Dr. Ackerman
is an adjunct professor in the Harold
Abel School of Clinical Psychology at Capella
University. Dr. Ackerman has taught
graduate clinical psychology and neuropsychology
at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
and The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Ackerman
is licensed in North Carolina, Pennsylvania,
and Ohio and was on the National Register of
Health Service Providers in Psychology. Dr. Ackerman
is a fellow of the American
Psychological Association.
Her hospital-based and private clinical practices
included individual, group, family psychotherapy,
and neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation
of patients across the lifespan. Dr. Ackerman
has provided neuropsychology assessment, treatment,
and forensic consultation for victims of intimate
partner violence and currently conducts neuropsychological
and rehabilitation research. She has
treated over 4,000 clients.
Dr. Ackerman received her Ph.D. in psychology
from Iowa State University. She is an
active fellow of the American Psychological
Association, member of the Divisions of Clinical
Neuropsychology, Health
Psychology, Trauma
Psychology, and Rehabilitation
Psychology, as well as fellow of the Society
for the Psychology of Women. Currently,
she is Associate Editor of the Rehabilitation
Psychology Newsletter and the Division
22 website, Liaison from Division 35 to Division
22, and co-chair of the Disability Studies Committee
of Division 22.

Currently, Dr. Ackerman’s research includes
health disparities and treatment options experienced
by women, and multimodal biofeedback and neuropsychological
rehabilitation, People of Color with Disabilities,
stress and trauma experienced by Women of Color
and Women with Disabilities, and increasing
community awareness about victims of violence
and disabilities from head injuries.
