The Outcomes and Assessment Research and Spinal Cord Injury Laboratories at Kessler Medical Rehabilitation Research and Education Center (KMRREC), located in West Orange, NJ, are seeking PhD-level candidates for three research positions within a non-profit rehabilitation research organization. Successful candidates will develop their own areas of research and will assume roles on currently funded grants related to (1) the development of new Quality of Life instruments targeted for a rehabilitation population, (2) the development of new measures of cognitive functioning, (3) the utilization of virtual-reality technology in assessment of cognitive functioning, (4) improvement of quality of life following Spinal Cord Injury or other traumatic injury. The SCI research laboratory has been designated as a model system of SCI research and practice, as it is one of 14 federally funded model spinal cord injury programs in the country.

The successful candidates will be expected to provide oversight and assistance on a wide range of laboratory activities as well as develop their own research areas that complement the strengths and mission of the research laboratories. Responsibilities include project management, grant writing, study coordination, data management/analyses, preparation of findings for publication, and supervision of research assistants.

Qualifications include a record of publishing and preparing/competing for federally funded grants (or the promise of being able to do so), and strong statistical, data management, and writing skills. The successful candidates should have postdoctoral experience in rehabilitation, neuropsychology, and/or health-related research. Experience in spinal cord injury medicine, virtual reality, psychometrics and test development, and/or quality of life measurement is preferred. History of grant success and management experience required for Associate Director level.
