Psychologist Position in Minnesota

 

Bethesda Hospital  is a member of the HealthEast Care System in St.Paul, MN that includes a specialty rehabilitation hospital (Bethesda) and three acute hospitals (St. Josephs, St. Johns, and Woodwinds). We are an active, supportive department of 11 doctoral psychologists (rehabilitation/health psychologists and neuropsychologists) who are committed to reinventing the lives of our patients.  We serve Bethesda and St. Joseph’s Hospitals.

 

We are seeking a full-time psychologist who is interested in conducting treatment with inpatients in our Brain Injury Services (BIS) at our Bethesda site. This program, currently at 30 beds on two units (with plans to expand adding a third unit), includes three programs: Brain Injury Rehabilitation (BIR) for acute rehabilitation, Neurobehavioral Crisis and Assessment (NCA) for people with brain injuries in emotional and behavioral crisis needing short term hospital stabilization, and Neurobehavioral Brain Injury (NBI) for people with brain injury requiring long term hospitalization to more fully redesign emotional and behavioral programming. We serve people with traumatic brain injuries, stroke, anoxia, post brain infection, and tumor. This position will serve all three programs (BIR, NCA, NBI) in Brain Injury Services.

 

This position provides an opportunity for an innovative individual to design emotional, cognitive, and behavioral programming in a trans-disciplinary setting while also conducting diagnostic interview and counseling. The psychologist is fully integrated into the treatment teams and is expected be a leader in team case conceptualization.

 

We are a department with broad knowledge and much opportunity for internal support and consultation. Psychology/Neuropsychology at Bethesda also serves inpatient units specializing in Respiratory (breathing difficulties from spinal cord injury, brain injury, COPD, etc.), Geriatric (Alzheimer’s Disease, etc.), Rehabilitation (spinal cord injury, etc), and Complex Medical Care.  We also provide neuropsychological evaluations at our sister hospital,  St. Joseph’s Hospital, where neuropsychology covers the Neurointensive, Neurovascular, Neurology, and Psychiatry Services. We also have available four clinics:  Brain Injury Clinic, Concussion Clinic, Memory Loss, and Parkinson’s Clinic.

 

The Brain Injury Services also sponsors an annual two day conference, Managing Challenging Situations in Brain Injury Care, attended by about 300 professionals. There are numerous opportunities for education and community involvement through Bethesda.

 

The position requires a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Minnesota licensure at the doctoral level (Licensed Psychologist), and at least one year of clinical experience beyond the doctorate with experience providing direct clinical services.
